hi everyone i thought i would just take time to let you know about an interesting development. i have been working with developing sustainable agricultural/ permaculture systems for quite some time and have finally come up with a highly dynamic system of increasing the arbuscular mycorrhizal inoculum into our growing systems , whether its conventional or permaculture, dig or non dig, or just containerised gardens. i have now successfully sourced the indigenous inoculum (mycorrhiza) and have inoculated a perennial allium species. (aliums have a small root zone so are quite special when it comes to the dynamics of the symbiosis)
the allium seed came from a source through henry double day and is from a chemical, pesticide ect free grower.the plants have been raised in a organic medium and everything is organic, including the pots which are biodegradable, the means by which i have produced/introduced the inoculum is a secret . There is a lot of information that i have gained and that needs to be disseminated so i have been asked to write a book that will be endorsed by good environmental scientists.
so now if you want to increase the nutritional value of your foodstuff whilst increasing pest and disease resistance and drought resistance, Increase soil germination dynamics and fertility then instead of buying in the dormant or senescent mix in a packet that is now available through some knowledgeable garden outlets.these alliums can be planted that will increase through bulb division, are inoculated and therefore are alive and will interact as soon as they are in the ground. I am also able to supply the mycorrhizal inoculum that it is suggested is used along side the planting of the living inoculated donors. there is so much more to tell you all about how to improve our food production at home and lots of us hope world wide with regard to this idea. what is important and what we are currently talking about with regard to the world and commercial production that has affected even us in the uk, is that there are fewer and fewer seeds available that will now for a symbiosis with the mycorrhiza due to the use of chemical feed stocks. we believe that growing plants in areas that are more suitable to them, that we need to breed from vintage varieties of seed that enter into the symbiotic relationships with mycorrhiza will help us get away from our dependency on non organic and chemical/oil based ( pesticide, fertilizer ) monocultures. i suggest that before you ask specific questions look up arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, element biofortification , fruit and vegetable nutrition losses by Meyer. the bok i am slowley working on has a working title which is , "whats wrong with our food: the missing link in the food chain" i am available for discuss using the message board or comment to glenn_prigmore@hotmail.com yours Glenn Prigmore BSc (Hons) MSc Environmental Protection & Management
